Insecticidal and mosquito repellency property of essential oil from hyptis suaveolens leaves

Essential oil was extracted from the leaves of Hyptis suaveolens by hydro-distillation placing 1kg washed fresh in round bottom flasks set up with 1liter distilled water. The Mosquitocidal activity, mosquito larvae (larvicidal) and repellency effect were carried-out using standard modified methods. Percentage yield essential oils gotten as 0.05%. showed very strong larvicidal properties against larvae. There low mortality rate at lower dose, a concentration 6.25ppm 4% over period 6 hours, same 12 24 hours gave 11%. LC50 LC 90 this 25.21 302.67 respectively. At 12.50ppm also recorded 13% recorded, LC90 6.25ppm. 25.00ppm, 20%, for 30% both are 9.575 352.458 no significant differences 50, 100 1000ppm, 100% 6, 0.549 0.853 record death control even after hours.
